Xiangyang Zhiyuan High School, formerly known as Xiangyang No 1 Railway middle School,  is a provincial model school directly under the leadship of municipality education Bureau, ranking at the top of Xiangfan leading high schools in comprehensive strength. It is located in the northeast of Fancheng with five minutes｀ walk to Xiangfan Railway station, covering 27300 square metres. It has two teaching buildings equipped with advanced multi-media teaching facilities, two dormitory buildings able to hold up to 2000 students, two two-floor canteens, a lab building, a 75000-copy library, a multi-function lecture hall, computer classrooms and internet access as well as plastic runways, basketball courts and volleyball courts

It has more than 160 staff members, of whom 2 are special-class teachers, 39 are senior-level teachers, 80 are intermediate teachers, 4 conferred the titles of pillar teachers at the provincial level, and another 7 at the Xiangfan municipal level, all the teaching staff have met the state academic requirements. Over thirty teachers are province or city head-teachers in their particular subjects and some are heads of associations in their fields. Xingyang Zhiyuan High School has been successfully continuing the glorious traditional spirit of diligence, quickness, practicality and creativity, always sticking to the human-oriented education philosophy. Since its establishment, the school has consistently enjoyed a high reputation throughout Hubei province for its quality education. In the past two decades, XZHS has always come out of top among other schools in Xiangfan in the aspect of entrance rate into institutions of higher learning, serving as one of the major sources of recruitment for China｀s famous universities like Tsinghua University, Peking University and Renmin University.

This year the school passed the official reassessment of ｀Provincial Model Schools｀, with every aspect reaching A-Level.
